Anya Mowll is a fulltime artist based in Wellington. She graduated with a Diploma in Ceramic Arts in 2012 and then completed a Bachelor of Applied Arts at Whitireia Polytechnic. She works from home in her studio mainly with clay but does experiment with other media.
She enjoys exploring the texture of fired ceramics from smooth to as sharp as a knife, preserving fingerprints in the finished pieces and experimenting with the combinations of dry, metallic and fluid glazes. She finds her inspiration in nature, particularly in features like growth, weathering, evolution and organic structures and is always on the lookout for new ideas. You can usually find her working on more than one project at the same time. Recently she started painting in acrylics enjoying the colour and texture that if offers as well as its flexibility.
